[This started out as a personal sketch blog but quickly became an haha-tumblr-is-hilarious-and-everything-goes blog. I also started this thing called Character Solidifying Sunday; related to this I talk way too much about my OCs.
Feel free to drop me a question or seven in my askbox.]
So I’ve decided to talk about one of my worlds that I have absolutely no plans of making any kind of story or comic for. But, for whatever reason, it’s also a lot more thought out than many of my other worlds and so I’m going to talk about it in separate posts; most of which will be made tomorrow.
The Dreaming Realms are a collection of lands that share some similarity to size and shape to the continents of our Earth. They are populated by creatures like goblins and faeries and elves and what have you and this world was supposedly once connected to our own. Sometimes humans still enter that world through sleep and sometimes creatures from that world find their way into ours (we’ll talk about King Ghoul later). We’ll be talking mainly about the Southerlies which has a few parallels size to our Southern America. The Southerlies lie directly below the Fey Kingdoms which is full of boring and stiff elves and faeries and stuff.
I’ll talk about each ‘country’ tomorrow in individual posts and talk about characters of interest within them, but here’s a quick rundown of the different places-
The Drome Lands: The largest country of this world. The Drome Lands were once known as the Goblin Kingdom and are, as one might guess, populated by goblins. There is a large river running through them, but it is generally a desert climate. There are problems of overpopulation, disorganized government, and food shortage.
The Wasterlies: A vast desert that covers the majority of the continent. There are parts of the Wasterlies so hot and dry that not even bacteria can survive. Generally, not a lot of life in this area and not a whole lot of points of interest. There are are massive graveyards scattered throughout, which are believed to belong to some previous race that lived there. There are also the ghouls who think it’s the best place ever to live. Although there are times of the year you can get through the Wasterlies just by following the river, sometimes the river is dried up and almost impossible to tell apart from the thousands of other chasmic cracks in the sand and having a well trained guide for travel is suggested.
Shadow Downs: The stretch of land that separates the Wasterlies from the Spectral Kingdom. Supposedly a place of distorted reality and madness. Not much population but does contain haunts and wisps.
The Spectral Kingdom/Lands: More of a massive city than a kingdom. Is populated by spectral denizens. Supposedly this is a dimension of its own, able to be entered through by this area of the planet, but apparently you can enter it through other means as dreaming individuals do find themselves in the Spectral Lands now and again. Is noted for containing both the Veritas Tree and the Tree of Glass Hummingbirds.
Once upon a time I did descriptions of all the various areas in the Dreaming Realms (minus the Fey Kingdoms cause they’re lame) and I felt accomplished.
Reblogging for some reference of characters I’m working on and in case there’s the off chance anyone’s curious about the Drome Lands and other places.
