letsly asked:

do garro, septimus, envi, drytze, girl, jesse, junus, and anyone else have any hidden skills? or skills that don't come up often? things like that.

Garro has like literally no skills besides his mechanic abilities and his brute force. Can’t write, can’t cook, can’t whistle, can’t even clean that well. I guess that he did pick up some pretty good navigation skills. So he can fix things and not get lost and pummel people. Good man.

Commodore Septimus can actually sew pretty well and helped in the creation of her giant button-eyed hyena. And she, UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE, can whistle.

Envi’ere is pretty good at strategy games, like chess or HAHA STARCRAFT (the idea of playing starcraft in space amuses me), even though she doesn’t play them often.

I think everyone knows this about Dryte, but I like to mention it all the same; not only is he a space hooker extraordinaire, but he is also a medic. He is very good at fixing people, and perhaps ironically, good at making them feel good about themselves. He is also working on becoming a sex therapist.

Girl knows about everything you can know about coffee. She’s also pretty awesome at one-handed texting, typing, and golf.

Hmmmmm, I think I talk about Jesse enough that his minor abilities are pretty well known. One of the things that doesn’t come up often is his ability to play the cello. And he swims geud. Another is that if this ever comes up he’s really good at punching things until they stop moving.

Junus, besides his amazing social skills, is able to whittle and play the instrument called the aeol. Oh, and even though he doesn’t make stories, he is pretty good at collecting them and occasionally (if somehow you get him very mellowed out) telling them.

Oh yeah, I should also note that Girl is probably the closest to being ‘artsy-fartsy’ even though she’s not particularly an artist. She’s pretty much a hipster and likes messing around with photography every once in awhile.

Graw, however, is not.

verhkrys asked:

I don't remember why I thought of this but has Jesse (or any of your characters) ever participated in Geo-caching or something like it? Would he enjoy it (or did he enjoy it)?

Selidor, being an astrogator, is like geo-caching ALL THE TIME…. in SPACE. But he’s looking for PLANETS. But yeah, he does astrogate which deals a lot with using coordinates and finding stuff. If he were to straight up geo-cache he probably would absolutely love that, since he likes finding little things in little places and likes hiding things EVEN MORE.

I bet Jesse would have done it at least once, but whether or not he would have enjoyed it would have depended on who he was with at the time. If he was just doing it on his own, he wouldn’t particularly enjoy the action within itself.

The only other one I can think of doing it would be Girl, with Graw, and she would probably enjoy it as well!

letsly asked:

Let's say that by some means, Jesse, Garro, Septimus, Envi, Junus, King Ghoul, and Girl die. It doesn't matter if they are a creature that doesn't leave a body behind, let's just say for this question they do. So, how would they want their funeral to go? How would it actually go? Would they want be cremated, or? What would their eulogy be like? What would their tombstone say, if they had one? How would others take their death?

p.Jesse, honestly, hasn’t thought much about what would become of his body if he died. If he did, I think that honestly he’d want his body to be cremated so there would be less chance of him coming back. Otherwise, it would be one of those things he wouldn’t care much of what would happen to his body after he was gone. His funeral would run by and his eulogy given by a Catholic priest who didn’t know Jesse very well, besides the fact the dude came into church every once in awhile. Few people would attend. He didn’t keep in touch with those people he cared about in life very well, so I don’t even know if they’d know he was dead.

Garro would like a burial at sea, eulogy given by Commodore Septimus. If this were possible, he would be missed by the crew as a valuable member and missed by Septimus as a friend. But, since he’s away from the ship and crew, chances are if he died, without real friends or family he would probably be cremated or buried without a real funeral. If buried, his tombstone would simply say his name and the year he was born and year he died.

Envi’ere would hope that her body be brought back to her world and back to her family, and she probably has some money set aside for this to happen if she ever does die. Her family would be incredibly sad and blame themselves for not trying to contact her more or for allowing her to go so wayward in the first place, and the eulogy would be beautiful- but would be more about her before she left home. She would be buried in the family plot and her tombstone would probably be something simple like “Beloved Daughter and Sister”.

Where Junus is from, funeral pyres are usually the tradition after an individual dies. Although christian burials are starting to become popular near the end of his life, he would still expect a funeral pyre. With all of his family and friends long gone, his eulogy wouldn’t be personal, but there’s a chance that someone would recognize who he is and his war and heroic efforts would be recited at his funeral. It might actually be the only time since the wars have ended that he’s called a hero again. Too bad that won’t happen since Testament takes over his dead body after his death, harharharhar.

King Ghoul would demand that his people eat his body after his death. And they would. There would be the grandest ceremony where every ghoul gets at least a small portion of his body and they eat it. After that, many ghouls would recount how great their king was and would retell of his legendary antics, particularly the time when he stole the spectral crown and such. They would make some kind of haphazard monument to him and if any of them could write (probably not likely) it would say something like KING GHOUL: THE GREATEST KING TO HAVE EVER WALKED THIS WORLD. The monument would look like a bunch of tombstones thrown together, but they would think it was the most beautiful thing ever created in the history of ever. They would then begin a celebration party in honor of King Ghoul’s life where they eat and dance and orgy and who knows what else. They would party for weeks until they forgot why they were partying. Then they would shrug and go about their business.

If Girl died, she would have previously made sure that her and Graw’s body would go to scientific research. Although the idea of that would make her a little nauseous, she would hope any knowledge gained from her body would help anyone else in the future in a similar situation as her.

Thank you for the question, Aly!

letsly asked:

How do Garro, Jesse, Junus, Septimus, Envi, Girl, King Ghoul, and Gallowglass feel about marriage? (if they don't know what marriage is, just go by if they learned about what it is and so) Would they want to get married, and if they did, what reasons would they do it?

Garro is kind of terrified of marriage. I don’t think he minds the idea with it, may even admire the commitment, but as long as it doesn’t concern him. He feels he doesn’t understand nor is capable of providing the responsibility that’s expected in that sort of relationship. He doesn’t want to get married, but if he did it would be because he’d feel ready to take that step and because his partner wanted it or something.

p.Jesse’s kind of had bad luck as far as marriages go. With his marriages he’s felt trapped, bound, confined, and unhappy. Yet he desperately wants to have a long term relationship (often dreams of a marriage) that works and that he doesn’t screw up. He doesn’t know if that’s possible though. It’s possible he’ll get married again, it’ll probably because he wants to commit to that person, because he thinks he loves them, and because he wants to be like normal people are.

Junus has also had some trouble. His first wife died and broke his heart, then his second wife walked out on him and smashed the remaining pieces. But he thinks that if you love a person, you should commit to them through marriage and be faithful to them. This apparently was a good thing to live by and his third marriage, though not without its trouble here and there, is a happy, a well-functioning, and generally a good marriage. He married because of his love, because of his moral upbringing, and because of his devotion to his spouse.

Commodore Septimus thinks marriage is kind of a pointless ceremony. If you want to be with someone, then you be with someone. You don’t need some kind of validation for it. If she got married it’d because she was pissed drunk.

Envi’ere doesn’t have many thoughts on marriage. She wouldn’t mind settling down with someone and wouldn’t mind a marriage for that, but right now the thing she’s used to is one-night-stands and so marriage doesn’t seem particularly relevant. If she got married, it’d probably be because her partner would want to get married.

Girl would absolutely love to get married. She loves the ideas of vows, of wedding dresses, of people to celebrate the occasion, of cakes, of a drop-dead gorgeous groom, of people showing their love in front of other people and binding it, etc. If she got married it would be for LOVE.

King Ghoul thinks marriage sounds icky and stupid. But he wouldn’t hesitate to get married if there were free chickens involved.

Gallowglass thinks that marriage is idealistic and for people who haven’t faced true troubles or temptation yet. It is a shaky commitment at best, ready to fall apart at the drop of a pin. Only optimistic fools get married; and why on earth would you limit yourself to another person anyhow? If he got married, a partner with a very large and flawless penis would have to be involved.

vadum asked:

I have a feeling that this has been asked for some reason, but I looked through tags and found nothing soo.. If your characters (Let's go with Jesse, Garro, Junus, Gallowglass, Girl, and anyone else you'd like to throw in!) were to magically come across a large sum of money, what would they do? How would they spend it? Would any of them donate the money or give it away or something?

TO MY MEMORY, it has not been asked. Which means it might have been and I just don’t remember, but I don’t mind answering again if it has.

Jesse has large sums of money as it is, and he wouldn’t do much different if he got more- he also doesn’t really donate. It’s not that he thinks that’s a waste of money, it’s just that usually he’s more involved with individuals and isn’t as concerned with groups of people. If he acquired a large sum, he’d put it away until he’d need it for refurnishing his house or buying a car or something.

Garro’s not one for thinking of the bigger picture or things he might be able to use the money for in the future, so he’d probably spend it immediately on one or two things. He’d look into some way to get back to the Randomesque, which money couldn’t buy, so he’d look into getting his own ship. I’m not sure how much money he’d need, but there’s a chance that he still couldn’t afford it even with what he acquired. He also wouldn’t really want to captain it, he’d just want to be the mechanic for it. The most likely and least complicated would be buying all-new equipment for his mechanic garage. That’d also be the least expensive and he’d go get tacos and grilled cheese sandwiches and frozen dinners with the rest of the money.

Junus, who has never been in a state of poverty but never really had wealth to himself either, wouldn’t know what to do with it at first. He doesn’t really want a new house or new clothes or much and the money would probably sit in a corner for awhile. Then one day he’d buy something special for Sending and then go donate the rest to the local town.

Gallowglass wouldn’t even hesitate. He’d snatch that wealth up and go get a sex change before anyone could say, “Here’s your cash.” If there were anything left over it’d be used for latex pants, kinky boots, and beauty products.

Girl would look into surgeries that could be done to remove Graw, but it’d just be idle looking. She couldn’t really bring herself to do it just because, as mentioned about her before, Graw’s such an important part of her. And because to have him removed would probably kill him. After looking, she’d probably put the money into savings for now. She might want to take different college classes in the future, and if she ever wants to move out of this apartment then that money will be useful.

Thank you for the question!

letsly asked:

How would Garro, pJesse, Girl, Gallowglass, Septimus, Envi, and anyone else you'd like to include react if they suddenly learned that the most important person in their life just died? How would they first react to the news? How would they cope? Would they be able to move on? (And if they don't have anyone that important, just sort of go by if they did)

I had to think about this sometime for Garro, and I decided that, although this might be pushing the question a bit, it wouldn’t be a person. It would be the ship itself, the Randomesque. If he found out that was destroyed, well. I guess it would be similar if you heard your hometown was nuked while you were away. He’d be shocked, first off, that such a thing could happen. There’d be a sort of emptiness inside of him because he essentially lost his entire home. And he’d definitely miss it. He’d be able to cope and move on, especially since he’s been separated from the ship for awhile, but if I think it would hit him hard if he ever saw the remains of the ship or something. Before I left home, my dog- my dearest childhood friend- was put down. He was very old and very much in pain, so his death (despite the not-natural means) felt natural. It was when I went back home and my parents had torn down the trees when I was gone and his dog house was missing and everything was so… wrong. It was then when I felt more of the pain of that loss. It was like I was expecting everything to be the same when I went home. I think it’d be like that for Garro, it would have some hurt, but the real hurt would come if he was able to go back and physically see the ship is gone.

p.Jesse, it’s kind of hard to say. It’s like either everyone is the most important person in his life, or no one is. I think that anyone who he regularly interacts with dying would hit him hard. But it kind of depends on the person. Like, if it were his ex-wife Rasha (Star’s lovely character), he would probably first react with a breath of relief. But then he’d be racked with waves of guilt because he never made things right between them (though he probably couldn’t have) and he’d feel that he should have been there when she died and did all that he could have to prevent her death, and he’d blame himself simply for not being there. He’d cope with that how he does everything in his life; try to repress it and push it into the back of his mind and not deal with it. On the outside, he’d probably look more cheerful than he has in ages. If it were someone he didn’t have quite as much as a complicated relationship with, like Matthias (wait, that’s still complicated… oh well), he wouldn’t feel any relief, but the guilt would be much greater (especially since Matthias is a minor). Because he’s basically superhuman, he feels that he should be able to prevent these things. It also frustrates him since he’s still around, but he feels he doesn’t deserve it.

For Girl, another kind of unconventional answer here, but somehow it’d probably be Graw, and he’d die in a way where they were able to amputate him or something and Girl would be able to go on with her life. There would be shock and then a strange torn feeling. Graw was a part of her life, well, more than that- he was a part of her, and she’d feel that a part of her died when he did. She’d feel this loss at the same time that everyone around her is saying stuff that’s basically, “Oh isn’t it wonderful that you don’t have that thing attached to your arm! Now you can live like a normal human being!” Suddenly, she’d be treated like a person by the people who have shunned her all her life. Not only would she be kind of disgusted by this behavior, but she’d be acutely aware that this social standing was received by the price of another living being. She wouldn’t think it was a very fair trade and she’d be pretty hurt and bitter about it. She’d miss who she was with Graw, and she’d probably have some hardcore phantom limb. She’d cope by learning how to do things, like swimming, with one arm/shark-arm missing and she would move on. Probably become the best gorram lifeguard the world has ever seen just to spite everyone.

For Gallowglass, interestingly enough, it’d probably be someone he’s never met before. He’s an amnesiac, just as a reminder, and the thing that would hit him hard is if one day he got a letter or something that said HEY, YOUR LAST LIVING RELATIVE JUST DIED. It would be harder if that relative was one of his parents. I think, before shock or grief, the thing that would hit him would be frustration- because FINALLY, he’s found a link to his past, but they’re DEAD. Later, the grief of having this person who he was unable to talk to, and unable to find anything about from them, would be pretty overwhelming for him. He’d feel completely isolated and without hope. He’d probably not cope well, mentally shut down, and not really get over it.

For Commodore Septimus, despite the fact that they rarely do anything but fight, that would probably be Helmut. At first, she’d try to dismiss it like his death doesn’t matter. She might even joke about it, saying that HARHAR, AT LEAST THE RANDOMESQUE IS TRULY MINE NOW. Or something like WOW, I DIDN’T THINK HE COULD GET ANYMORE STIFF THAN HE WAS. I GUESS HE PROVED ME WRONG. She wouldn’t want to face the fact that he’s gone and not coming back, and she certainly wouldn’t want to face the grief that would come along with it. The thing that would pull her out of her denial would be the two crews aboard the Randomesque. She would see that both sides were aware and saddened by the loss, and as the highest power aboard it was her job to reassure them and help them move on- and that wouldn’t be accomplished by denials and jokes. She would then say the crews are now combining, the ship’s official name will now be the Helmut, and that they will work together in honor of the late captain. Doing this for the crew would help her cope and move on herself.

For Envi’ere, it would probably be any member of her large family back home. She would first receive the news and think it was surreal. She would feel sorrow, but also a sort of detachment to that sorrow. Because of how long she’s been away from home, Envi’ere would be aware that she doesn’t really even know her family anymore. It would be like receiving news of a stranger’s death but knowing you’re supposed to care. Such a death might convince her to go back home for a bit.

Thanks for the question!

vadum asked:

(sunday pfft whats that though you can hold off on answering if you want to) What if Jesse, Junus, Envi'ere, Garro, Girl, and King Ghoul woke up with extremely wacky hair styles. Not purposefully wacky, as in someone just grabbed scissors and took random chunks out of their hair. (they could also be bald.) Would they care? Would they make an attempt to fix it up (if possible)?

I ACTUALLY DON’T MIND ANSWERING THESE ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, it was just a busy week this time.

p.Jesse would be sent into a thousand throes of the deepest despair. I think I’ve mentioned, but his hair doesn’t grow the fastest, and there’s a reason he’s rarely seen with facial hair. He would certainly try to fix it, and if he couldn’t then he’d probably be seen wearing various types of hats for the next several months til he could at least get an even fuzz on his head.

Junus probably wouldn’t notice. If he did, he’d be more concerned about trying to figure out who in heck’s name was able to sneak in his house at night and get that close to him without him waking. there would be no attempts to fix it.

Envi’ere’s hair is one of the few aspects about herself that she likes, and although it wouldn’t appear that she cared about it, she would be pretty sad. And, like Junus, would want to figure out who the heck did this. I think that, depending on the damage, she might shave her entire head to get rid of the reminder that her hair is messed up now.

Garro would… notice, but not quite care? I think the only reason he has the fauxhawk he does is because he’s not quite sure what to do with his hair. There’s not many respectable styles you can wear when your hair’s bright blue.

Girl would be pretty distraught. She already has a low opinion of her self image, mostly because of Graw, and having her hair ruined in such a way would be very depressing for her. She would certainly try to fix it.

And King Ghoul wouldn’t notice the appearance of his hair missing chunks, but he could tell SOMETHING IS OFF. He’d be going around trying to feel like EVERYTHING FEELS WEIRD. King Ghoul would probably keep randomly shaking his head, and then look around like someone put something in his hair or something. He’d do things like this until he got used to the feeling.

Thank you for the question!

mrs-steph asked:

what exactly is girl's swimming technique with graw? does he swim independently and pull her around or?

There’s a couple different ways they can do it! This tends to depend on how cooperative Graw is at the time.

If he wants to swim- he’s much faster and stronger than Girl could ever hope to be. He swims relatively normal to what most sharks do, dragging her behind. This terrified her the first couple times it happened, but now it’s just kind of an eye-rolling action and she tries not to be thrown around too much until he’s done.

Sometimes he gets confused when she swims; so she swims more or less normally while he swims backwards, trailing behind her.

Sometimes he doesn’t want to swim and is lazy and he lets her drag him around, her swimming normally. He’s very heavy though, and even though they’re in water and she’s a good swimmer she still can’t go far with him like that.

And Girl’s particular favorite way is when Graw is laid back but wants to swim. The bones in her arm that connects him to her are very flexible, and they can bow in a way that Girl and Graw are sort of awkwardly swimming side by side. It’s not particularly effective, but Girl dreamed of swimming with dolphins when she was young and kind of pretends that it’s similar.
