riarii asked:

If Jesse, Selidor, King Ghoul, and Junus could all have one material thing for Christmas, what would it be?

I don’t think Jesse‘d ever get it for himself or even think about wanting it, but if he could get any one material thing I’d get him either a body pillow or a stuffed animal OH MY GOD THIS IS HORRIBLE but so he’d have something to hold at night and sob against when he’s alone because he’s

yeah.

Selidor… I can’t actually think of anything he would want? LIKE ANYTHING? FOOD IS A GOOD PRESENT FOR HIM? HE LIKES APPLES? AND ALSO CARAMEL? It’s kind of funny, ever since he’s gotten on the Aegis and become part of its crew, he hasn’t really wanted for much.

Just give King Ghoul your left overs and used condoms and he’ll be good. (Actually a home would be really nice. It would be… a Christmas miracle.)

I think Junus would like a new aeol.

Thank you so much for the question, Ria!

letsly asked:

askin u dis too. If they know what Halloween is, how do Jesse, Envi, Garro, King Ghoulie, and Junus feel about it? Beyond that, what would they dress up as?

Jesse DOES and his party habits can be found here.

Envi’ere does not. Halloween hasn’t DIED OUT, but it isn’t as popular with adults since they’re out struggling to survive so they can feed their kids, it’s a human holiday, and Envi’ere doesn’t care piss about holidays in general.

She would dress up as Ria for Halloween.

Garro does, in fact, know about Halloween. In his own dimension, there was a similar holiday in which Commodore Septimus made the ship like a GHOST SHIP and dressed up as a DEVIL and Helmut ran around frustrated at all these PAGAN TRADITIONS. And he has lived in enough “normal” human communities since being trapped on Earth to know what it is. He hates it here. He doesn’t like strangers knocking on his door expecting things from him, he doesn’t get the whole costume thing, and he doesn’t get why he should give them candy and get nothing in return.

If forced, he would dress up as an ANIME.

King Ghoul doesn’t quite have the mental capacity to understand a holiday, though he does understand random unplanned celebrations. Actually, he probably doesn’t understand that either, just enjoys them. So, while banished to the Waking Realms he did experience a day with curious and confusing and exciting sounds and smells and sensation and there was a lot of sweet and sticky things and also wrappers and screaming and he thinks it was AWESOME.

Someone would have to dress him up because of him not comprehending that part, but he wouldn’t be unwilling. He would dress up as A NORMAL HUMAN.

Junus does not know what it is. If he did, he’d be pretty neutral. As long as he wasn’t actually expected to talk to them, he’d be fine with handing out candy to kids. And if they stopped throwing stones at his house for a night that would be nice.

Junus would not and could not be forced to wear a costume.

Thanks, Aly!

verhkrys asked:

How does the pride/arrogance of some of your characters manifest? Do they boast or settle for quiet superiority? Does it change depending on the circumstances/subject?

Jesse’s pride probably shows up most in some of the things he says, which is also where some of his biggest insecurities manifest. I know at some point in time in an rp with Grendel, her character got him to open up a bit and Jesse said that he’s the playboy boyfriend, the one you take to a hotel and have a good shag with and then show off to make your friends and enemies jealous- not the one you start a relationship or take to meet your parents or anything like that. And Grendel’s character just started laughing because Jesse was being so egotistical calling himself the playboy boyfriend and saying that people wanted to ‘shag’ with him and all these other things that were kind of presumptive.

Also, when he feels superior to someone, that will often show up first in his speech and with how he’ll talk down to them or insult them.

He’ll never directly say he’s better or superior to anyone, however.

King Ghoul will tell you straight out that he is better than you or anyone you know and you should try being a ghoul sometime because it’s awesome. BOASTS.

The Spectral King has a great deal of pride but it usually shows up only in her actions or the way she carries herself.

Junus does as well, and this is expressed by his anger at any kind of self flaw, his humiliation at any kind of failure, his displeasure at mockery, and his subtle (or maybe not that subtle) racism, sexism, and… speciesism? Prejudice against anything that isn’t human, whatever that would be called.

Thanks, Aeo!

riarii asked:

Haha oh no I think I started myself an ask trend. So, if Levi suddenly started hitting on/showing romantic interest in Jesse, King Ghoul, or E how would they handle that?

Jesse would be mildly surprised! If still with his lover, he’d do his best to gently tell Levi that he can’t reciprocate anything because he thinks monogamy is rad. If no longer with his lover, Jesse might gladly return Levi’s hitting upons and his interest. It would depend, of course, on their relationship at the time and how exactly Levi hit on him, but yeah.

King Ghoul would blink at him, then lick his face. Upon tasting Levi’s grease he would declare Levi to be the most beautiful woman he has ever met and ever will know and that they are to be married in the spring.

E would slowly shrivel into the safety of his massive sweater until only his eyes were peaking out angeredly and suspiciously. E is also under the assumption that if a person stares at you for longer than five seconds it means they either want sex with you or want to kill you and both of those sound kind of frightening to him so he’s just going to stay in his sweater, thank you very much.

Thanks, Ria!

gomengyoza asked:

Well. Speaking of CSS and cherries, does anyone have any specific favorite fruits? Does anyone dislike them, and does their universe have different fruits/veggies as us? If they do, I'd also like to know if there's a specific way they're grown!

Holy crap does Jesse effing love fruit. The story he’s in takes place in a place pretty similar to our world and all that, so there’s no special kind of fruit, but gosh he just loves fruit in general. He likes grapes and apples and bananas and peaches, pears, grapes, grapefruit, lemons, limes. I can’t really think of a fruit he isn’t fond of. His favorites are oranges and blood oranges though.

Then there is Selidor who has a great love of apples and on two separate occasions has somehow gotten one of the most powerful beings in the universe to make him an apple. Both of those apples were delicious and Selidor probably has the cores of them saved somewhere. Selidor, however, has a deep and intense loathing of bananas. This may have come from a previous crew’s cook using bananas in all of his cooking. There was also some kind of space fruit that you like cracked open and ate warm that he liked, but I forgot the name of it and I don’t know how it would be grown.

King Ghoul likes fruit that’s gone rotten, for the most part. But then again, King Ghoul likes anything that’s gone rotten.

And that’s all I can think of for right now! Thank you for the question.

malepartus asked:

Are there any people/ghouls/goblins who King Ghoul has a sentimental attachment to that's more or less perseverant?

Oh gosh, King Ghoul is horribly racist but all ghouls look the same to him. I’m not even joking, he can’t tell his own people apart from each other half of the time. He does love them all though, that’s for sure.

Goblins; he doesn’t have a big opinion on. He doesn’t come across them often, and if he does it’s usually not long enough or reoccurring enough for him to form any type of attachment.

Spectres; there is of course the Spectral King who he does have almost a sibling attachment with. He loves when she’s around, he doesn’t understand most of what she says but he likes hearing her talk, and (even after his banishment) the thought of her makes him feel kind of safe.

There’s also Naught, whom he hasn’t interacted with as often as the Spectral King, but gosh he thinks that Naught is a swell guy. He is infinitely amused by the things Naught does, and by the fact that Naught looks kind of similar to himself, and if he could turn that guy into a ghoul he’d do it in a second. He’s pretty sure that Naught somehow has some ghoul blood in him. He feels like they’re cousins or sumfink.

Although it’s not a real sentimental attachment, it should be noted that he doesn’t particularly like Nightmare or Reverie.

People; as of right now, there is just the currently nameless little girl he meets after his exile into the Waking Lands. His relationship with her is the ghoul version of being a fatherly figure. Which, you know, several people would think that doing things like humping her stuffed animals like an untrained dog or showing her the proper way to throw poop at other people would not be anything that should be related to the word ‘fatherly’. But that’s just how ghouls work.

Thank you for the question!

verhkrys asked:

TAKE SOME OF YOUR CHARACTERS, or just one or whatever you want, and tell us what sorts of things disappoint them and why?

GONNA GO WITH ALL THE CHARACTERS I PUT UP ON MY CSS POST THIS MORNING AW YEAH.

Loch is disappointed in a lot of things, most of these things being other people. He’s disappointed that he was kicked out of his home because his family is stoopid, he’s disappointed that he was raised up in society by people and then they found out that he’s doing just a feeeew little experiments on individuals on the side and suddenly they shun him, and he’s really disappointed that no one’s smart enough to realize how genius he is and how amazing his inventions are.

Lomond is disappointed by his lack of thumbs. Every night he wishes on a star and every morning he wakes up and there are still no thumbs. Gorramit.

Endell has problems receiving the mail every once and awhile and they’re always disappointed by having to wait longer than anyone else for the newest issue of Troll Hunk Rump.

The Falsilitator is really disappointed by relationships. He has a different view of the quadrants than many trolls and he currently can’t find anyone who has similar views.

Gadasher, I don’t think is really disappointed by anything. Not yet at least. He’s currently a little too robot for that.

King Ghoul is disappointed by the lack of chickens in the desert.

Jesse is disappointed by himself, and occasionally by a few of the people in his past.

Viviel’s Brother has a deep dislike of people and society. It kind of gets under his skin and he’s disappointed by how they act, how they treat each other, just how they are. He’s disappointed by how few of people think like he and his sister.

Viviel is kind of disgruntled by how STUPID HER BROTHER IS SOMETIMES, GOD.

letsly asked:

Let's say that by some means, Jesse, Garro, Septimus, Envi, Junus, King Ghoul, and Girl die. It doesn't matter if they are a creature that doesn't leave a body behind, let's just say for this question they do. So, how would they want their funeral to go? How would it actually go? Would they want be cremated, or? What would their eulogy be like? What would their tombstone say, if they had one? How would others take their death?

p.Jesse, honestly, hasn’t thought much about what would become of his body if he died. If he did, I think that honestly he’d want his body to be cremated so there would be less chance of him coming back. Otherwise, it would be one of those things he wouldn’t care much of what would happen to his body after he was gone. His funeral would run by and his eulogy given by a Catholic priest who didn’t know Jesse very well, besides the fact the dude came into church every once in awhile. Few people would attend. He didn’t keep in touch with those people he cared about in life very well, so I don’t even know if they’d know he was dead.

Garro would like a burial at sea, eulogy given by Commodore Septimus. If this were possible, he would be missed by the crew as a valuable member and missed by Septimus as a friend. But, since he’s away from the ship and crew, chances are if he died, without real friends or family he would probably be cremated or buried without a real funeral. If buried, his tombstone would simply say his name and the year he was born and year he died.

Envi’ere would hope that her body be brought back to her world and back to her family, and she probably has some money set aside for this to happen if she ever does die. Her family would be incredibly sad and blame themselves for not trying to contact her more or for allowing her to go so wayward in the first place, and the eulogy would be beautiful- but would be more about her before she left home. She would be buried in the family plot and her tombstone would probably be something simple like “Beloved Daughter and Sister”.

Where Junus is from, funeral pyres are usually the tradition after an individual dies. Although christian burials are starting to become popular near the end of his life, he would still expect a funeral pyre. With all of his family and friends long gone, his eulogy wouldn’t be personal, but there’s a chance that someone would recognize who he is and his war and heroic efforts would be recited at his funeral. It might actually be the only time since the wars have ended that he’s called a hero again. Too bad that won’t happen since Testament takes over his dead body after his death, harharharhar.

King Ghoul would demand that his people eat his body after his death. And they would. There would be the grandest ceremony where every ghoul gets at least a small portion of his body and they eat it. After that, many ghouls would recount how great their king was and would retell of his legendary antics, particularly the time when he stole the spectral crown and such. They would make some kind of haphazard monument to him and if any of them could write (probably not likely) it would say something like KING GHOUL: THE GREATEST KING TO HAVE EVER WALKED THIS WORLD. The monument would look like a bunch of tombstones thrown together, but they would think it was the most beautiful thing ever created in the history of ever. They would then begin a celebration party in honor of King Ghoul’s life where they eat and dance and orgy and who knows what else. They would party for weeks until they forgot why they were partying. Then they would shrug and go about their business.

If Girl died, she would have previously made sure that her and Graw’s body would go to scientific research. Although the idea of that would make her a little nauseous, she would hope any knowledge gained from her body would help anyone else in the future in a similar situation as her.

Thank you for the question, Aly!

riarii asked:

I sure do wanna know! OKAY--So for any of your characters you wish, do you have a specific "voice" for them? Like an actor/singer or some other existing person that sounds like or similar to that character to you?

Man, I should really be sleeping.

Yus. I really like listening to people talk and am horribly guilty of pairing voices to characters.

I’m going to talk about King Ghoul first because he’s the one where I’ve never been able to separate this voice from the character. Eddie Izzard is a British comedian who…. hmmm. Well, wikipedia says this about him:

Edward JohnEddieIzzard (born 7 February 1962) is an English stand-up comedian and actor. His comedy style takes the form of rambling, whimsical monologue and self-referential pantomime.

I’ve always been a fan of his movements and his way of speaking and put a lot of that into King Ghoul. When I started learning more about ghouls and their mythology, I wanted to give some form of Arabian accent to him- but he just refused. He was already intertwined with that voice that had inspired a great deal of his character.

Here’s one of Eddie Izzard’s clips, talking about puberty (what better subject than that to give an example of King Ghoul?). As a warning, he does talk about shootings and a bit about his transvestism. This is also a nice clip because it has subtitles and sometimes Eddie’s accent can be hard to understand for us unfamiliar with it. I think some of the only difference between King Ghoul and he is that KG’s movements are a little more erratic and his accent more cockney.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0j3L1sLoMM&feature=related

Not to mention that Eddie Izzard always makes me laugh.

I think for Selidor you know that Carl is my canon voice for him. Carl often voices silly things Selidor might do during our campaigns and it always fits. Selidor often uses 1920s American slang and rhythms in his speech. And, recently, Carl has been doing the “Carl the Llama” (from Llamas With Hats) voice which has also been crazy fitting for Selidor. This is a link to Llamas With Hats, some warning for cartoon blood and mentioned violence.

Then there’s p.Jesse and the character Sebastian from Black Butler who frustrates me to no end. Sebastian, voiced by J. Michael Tatum, is basically everything I’ve ever wanted for Jesse’s voice, and it frustrates me because someone else got to that voice first. It doesn’t help that Sebastian is also tall, black-haired, red-eyed, and a demon. They beat me to everything. Granted, these all aren’t the most original of traits, but it’s still frustrating.

The thing that won me over the most was Sebastian’s chuckle, which I swear it could have been ripped from my very thoughts it’s so perfect. But his cadences and way of playing with alliteration is fantastic as well. Jesse has a slight English accent, which is also present in Tatum’s voice acting, but I took a look at the accent site that Spire mentioned and found this clip here of an accent I imagine similar to Jesse’s and with a timbre that is close to his.

If you’d like to hear more of Sebastian’s actual dialogue, I find his conversation with Ciel in the beginning of Black Butler enjoyable. The link provided starts after the funimation sound effects, and his voice is the first voice speaking.

I wanted Garro to have a strong voice, something deep and with a dialect that clipped off the ends of certain words, slurred the sharp sounds, but also had that southern kind of slur. And, on the site Spire mentioned, I found this voice here, which I feel is fitting for Garro.

And, last but not least, Vladimir Kulich, especially as his role as Buliwyf in 13th Warrior, has always been my dream voice for Junus. The accent, the timbre, the rhythms- heck, the character doesn’t even have that many lines in the movie which is also particularly befitting of Junus. Anyhow, this link here will take you to the part in a clip where Buliwyf begins speaking. He is the first speaker, though others join in as the clip continues.

Thanks for the question, Ria!

verhkrys asked:

Do any of your characters see differently? As in: Do they all see the same spectrum of colours with the same amount of clarity that WE HUMANS do or do some see more or less? I was going to ask this specifically about King Ghoul and if Envi'ere's eye had settings for night vision and thermal stuff but I FIGURED IF THERE WAS ANYONE ELSE it might be better to make the question all broad.

My mind might just be going blank, but I can only think of three characters really, two of which you mentioned.

Envi’ere’s cybernetic eye does have different settings. It can see normally, it also has night vision and thermal vision, it has some settings involved with motion- and the most helpful are the scanners which give her readings of of buildings and lifeforms and stuff in a small radius.

The other character is actually Selidor. Concerning his actual, physical vision- for whatever reason his left eye doesn’t dilate as well as his right and this sometimes causes him some depth perception problems. The other thing though has to do with will power, which was mentioned in the previous Ikikva post. Selidor is a hoooman and is weak in the arts at best, and only has two skills; “sense” and “channel”. Channel is basically when you put more force into a normal physical action, which, with how weak he is in willpower, just generally means he can punch you harder than your average bloke. Sense is the skill that most, if not all, of the Arts users start out with. For most people, it’s kind of like that feeling you get when someone’s watching you, save that you can hone in on it and find out who else has the ability to use the Arts. If you’re very powerful with these skills, then you can sense what kind of skill a person is using, like if they’re reading minds or something. Selidor is not powerful in this skill and he can just locate other Will Power users and Will Power objects, but, unlike for other people who have a physical sensation that alerts them, Selidor’s a little messed up and has visual sensations that alert him. Around will power users, it often looks like there’s a haze, or sometimes crazy things (like blood dripping upwards off of things is common for him) start happening around him. Selidor’s so used to hallucinating that he doesn’t actually know that this is a skill and that it could help him.

And then there’s King Ghoul whose main problem with vision is that his eyes just like taking on too much light. Where normal people see something like this

King Ghoul instead sees the world more like this-

He’s able to see, it’s just that sometimes he doesn’t have the greatest definition between objects and bright lights throw him off bad. He tends to make up for this with his great sense of smell and taste.

Thank you for the question!

letsly asked:

How do Garro, Jesse, Junus, Septimus, Envi, Girl, King Ghoul, and Gallowglass feel about marriage? (if they don't know what marriage is, just go by if they learned about what it is and so) Would they want to get married, and if they did, what reasons would they do it?

Garro is kind of terrified of marriage. I don’t think he minds the idea with it, may even admire the commitment, but as long as it doesn’t concern him. He feels he doesn’t understand nor is capable of providing the responsibility that’s expected in that sort of relationship. He doesn’t want to get married, but if he did it would be because he’d feel ready to take that step and because his partner wanted it or something.

p.Jesse’s kind of had bad luck as far as marriages go. With his marriages he’s felt trapped, bound, confined, and unhappy. Yet he desperately wants to have a long term relationship (often dreams of a marriage) that works and that he doesn’t screw up. He doesn’t know if that’s possible though. It’s possible he’ll get married again, it’ll probably because he wants to commit to that person, because he thinks he loves them, and because he wants to be like normal people are.

Junus has also had some trouble. His first wife died and broke his heart, then his second wife walked out on him and smashed the remaining pieces. But he thinks that if you love a person, you should commit to them through marriage and be faithful to them. This apparently was a good thing to live by and his third marriage, though not without its trouble here and there, is a happy, a well-functioning, and generally a good marriage. He married because of his love, because of his moral upbringing, and because of his devotion to his spouse.

Commodore Septimus thinks marriage is kind of a pointless ceremony. If you want to be with someone, then you be with someone. You don’t need some kind of validation for it. If she got married it’d because she was pissed drunk.

Envi’ere doesn’t have many thoughts on marriage. She wouldn’t mind settling down with someone and wouldn’t mind a marriage for that, but right now the thing she’s used to is one-night-stands and so marriage doesn’t seem particularly relevant. If she got married, it’d probably be because her partner would want to get married.

Girl would absolutely love to get married. She loves the ideas of vows, of wedding dresses, of people to celebrate the occasion, of cakes, of a drop-dead gorgeous groom, of people showing their love in front of other people and binding it, etc. If she got married it would be for LOVE.

King Ghoul thinks marriage sounds icky and stupid. But he wouldn’t hesitate to get married if there were free chickens involved.

Gallowglass thinks that marriage is idealistic and for people who haven’t faced true troubles or temptation yet. It is a shaky commitment at best, ready to fall apart at the drop of a pin. Only optimistic fools get married; and why on earth would you limit yourself to another person anyhow? If he got married, a partner with a very large and flawless penis would have to be involved.

vadum asked:

(sunday pfft whats that though you can hold off on answering if you want to) What if Jesse, Junus, Envi'ere, Garro, Girl, and King Ghoul woke up with extremely wacky hair styles. Not purposefully wacky, as in someone just grabbed scissors and took random chunks out of their hair. (they could also be bald.) Would they care? Would they make an attempt to fix it up (if possible)?

I ACTUALLY DON’T MIND ANSWERING THESE ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, it was just a busy week this time.

p.Jesse would be sent into a thousand throes of the deepest despair. I think I’ve mentioned, but his hair doesn’t grow the fastest, and there’s a reason he’s rarely seen with facial hair. He would certainly try to fix it, and if he couldn’t then he’d probably be seen wearing various types of hats for the next several months til he could at least get an even fuzz on his head.

Junus probably wouldn’t notice. If he did, he’d be more concerned about trying to figure out who in heck’s name was able to sneak in his house at night and get that close to him without him waking. there would be no attempts to fix it.

Envi’ere’s hair is one of the few aspects about herself that she likes, and although it wouldn’t appear that she cared about it, she would be pretty sad. And, like Junus, would want to figure out who the heck did this. I think that, depending on the damage, she might shave her entire head to get rid of the reminder that her hair is messed up now.

Garro would… notice, but not quite care? I think the only reason he has the fauxhawk he does is because he’s not quite sure what to do with his hair. There’s not many respectable styles you can wear when your hair’s bright blue.

Girl would be pretty distraught. She already has a low opinion of her self image, mostly because of Graw, and having her hair ruined in such a way would be very depressing for her. She would certainly try to fix it.

And King Ghoul wouldn’t notice the appearance of his hair missing chunks, but he could tell SOMETHING IS OFF. He’d be going around trying to feel like EVERYTHING FEELS WEIRD. King Ghoul would probably keep randomly shaking his head, and then look around like someone put something in his hair or something. He’d do things like this until he got used to the feeling.

Thank you for the question!
